Fall 2010 Classes

Hist 201 American History                                  3 sem credits

Taught by John Kinzer, MA CSA  Spanning American history from 1492 to 1865, this course examines the events of the founding of America, the American idea of liberty, the impact of Christianity on the American people, the American founding documents, and biblical ideas shaping the United States.  Special emphasis on the early republic and the causes leading to the Civil War. This class is held on Thursday nights from 6:00 to 9:00pm. at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Rd. in Albuquerque.


Lit 101  Great Ideas in Literature 1                     4 sem credits

Taught by Marcie Kinzer, BA. This class is one of the distinctive Great Book classes where important works of literature are read and discussed with the class learning from personal insights as well as from the teacher.  The discussion and work of the class focuses on books from ancient times to 1800 with analysis and application of the great ideas and values of Western culture and civilization with Biblical truth.  This class meets Tuesday and Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio NE in Albuquerque.
 

Nat. Sci. 101  Geology                                         4 sem credits

Taught by John Kinzer, BA Geology, MA CSA   Students will gain an overview and understanding of the concepts and processes of geology from the class which includes a lab component and several field trips.  Principles and controversies of geology as well as Biblical ideas concerning the earth and creation are presented.  This class meets Tuesday form 11:30 am. to 2:30 pm. at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio NE in Albuquerque and the lab meets Friday from 11 am. to 2 pm. at Faith Church, 900 Southern Blvd. in Rio Rancho.  There are several planned fieldtrips.
 

Bible 101  Old Testament Survey                        3 sem credits

Taught by Pastor Robert Hall.   Great themes and doctrines from the Old Testament are presented in this course.  Students will gain an understanding of the history and importance of Israel, Christ revealed in the Old Testament, as well as timeless truths for every culture and generation.  This class meeting date is Wednesday from 3 to 6 pm. at Calvary Chapel of Rio Rancho, 138 Frontage Rd. in Rio Rancho.
 

CS 101  Christian Service 1                                 1 sem credit

Taught by Pastor Robert Hall.  This is a one credit class and represents three hours of service to the community each week where the student learns to take his or her faith into the community as a blessing and encouragement to others.  This class meeting date is the same time and location as Bible 101, Wednesday 3-6 pm at Calvary Chapel in Rio  Rancho..
